Time is a depreciating asset
20 Dec 2015
Time is a depreciating asset. With every click of the clock falls a second that will never be recovered. Yesterday has passed and it will never return. A minute ago, an hour ago, a year ago, are all words to describe time that has gone by. The big question to ask oneself is, What have I done with my time?
We are all born with the same stock of time for everyday that we live. 24 hours in a day is the only place where every human being is equal. Not even the brightest of minds have figured out how to recover a lost minute or how to stretch a day give it more hours or to stretch a second so that it can last longer.
Therefore I encourage you to do today what needs to be done so that you add value to every minute that you have. Lying idle or daydreaming or wishful thinking will only waste your time. Do that thing that you have set yourself to do, go for that run that will begin your journey to the weight you desire; Open that book that will add to your vault of knowledge, pick up the phone and call that friend and tell them you love them. Go on and start that business that you have been dreaming about for so long. Go out somewhere and meet with your potential life partner. Begin where you are and the rest of the time that you have left will suddenly become more fruitful. Life is meant to be lived out loud, to be played out in the arena.
As we journey through life sometimes we get overwhelmed by the circumstances we find ourselves in. It breaks our hearts to see our loved ones in pain and not be able to do anything about it. A businessman cries for lost opportunity, missed chances, mistakes made. Nothing can beat the pain of seeing our child cry for food and you have nothing at home with which to feed them. I am writing here just to remind you that circumstances can be changed, situations can be turned around, indeed lemons can be turned into lemonade, and even dreams can still come true. The fact that you are still alive means that life has given you another chance to make today your most productive day. To make today your most memorable day. To redeem the time while you are still able.
Go out into the city, smile at someone and make their day.
Go out into the city, lend a helping hand to someone.
Go out and share your dream with world.
Go out into the city and be the change that you want to see in the world.
Go out go out, the country is waiting for the product that you will introduce, something that they have never seen before, something uniquely yours. Create that business that will transform people’s lives. Do it today for time is of essence, tomorrow is not guaranteed, neither is the next minute. Do not falter or meander, do not ponder and wonder, wallow or cringle. Dare to be different. Dare to believe, to be outrageous. Dare to step out and shout out. Dare to make your dreams come true.
It is your right to be successful but it is also your responsibility to take action today. Procrastination is the biggest enemy of mankind. The world would be robbed of what you could have done or given if all you do is think about it and read about it and dream about it and speak about it but never actually rise up to step out and do it. A procrastinator knows what to do; He/She knows how to do it; But they just can’t harness enough willpower to get up and do it. Do not be deluded, in the manner that Robin Sharma refers to in his profound words, “Ideation without Execution is simply delusion”
Friends, the best way to make your dreams a reality is to wake up. To get off the bed and dive into the world. To be bold enough to embrace challenges and overcome them. To find solutions to problems and to make a difference in this life. More importantly to use the time that you have, while you still have it. No idea has ever worked until someone got up to do the work.
